Western Culture Review welcomes pitches that make a cultural subject clearer without flattening its history or differences. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for an editor to assess the idea.
What to pitch
We are interested in thoughtful work about cultural ideas, traditions, objects, language and memory. A strong proposal has a defined subject, a clear question and a reason it matters to a general reader. It should be possible to explain what the piece will show without relying on a sweeping claim about an entire culture.
What makes a good proposal
Include a working title, a short outline, the examples or materials you expect to discuss, and any relevant perspective you would bring. Flag uncertainty, disputed interpretations or potential conflicts of interest. Proposals should be original and written for readers who may be new to the subject.
How to send it
Use the Contact page form and select the editorial option. A proposal is not a commission, and sending one does not guarantee publication. Please do not send a complete article unless an editor has requested it.
